Anime Review: Tokyo Ghoul

Lets get started on this bitch!
WARNING: Mild Spoilers

Synopsis: Tokyo Ghoul is centered around an average boy named Kaneki Ken, (Gee, were have I heard this before?) this average boy meets up with a attractive women, named Rize, who is a ghoul. Now, what a ghoul is, is a "monster" that eats humans, but that really is the only thing they can eat. Back to the story, Rize attacks Kaneki to eat him, because shes a ghoul, and they get caught in an "accident" which sends Kaneki to the hospital, and Rize to death.

Okay, I really don't want to give away too much here, but what happens is Kaneki wakes up not hungry for foods he used to love, by his expressions it seems the food hes eating tastes like total shit. OH NO, Kaneki also has one eye of a ghoul, and he can only eat human now! (Okay, Kaneki didn't get a transplant or anything, its that ghouls, when they are hungry or eating their eyes turn red, but only one of Kaneki's eyes is turning red.) He basically finds out he's turned into a half-ghoul somehow, and he meets up with another group of ghouls, who are good ghouls that only eat the humans that commit suicide. How kind....  This is Kaneki's journey of being a weird half-ghoul, and figuring out just why he became a ghoul so suddenly.

Art, Animation and Soundtrack: Overall, I really love this anime! The art is not the absolute best, but lets face it, who wants to add perfect shading and highlights in every scene, its still pretty good though. The animation is also good, fluid during those intense fight scenes and all. The soundtrack does it's part, but I cannot call it spectacular. What is spectacular is the opening, my god Ling Tosite Sigure you have outdone yourself! This song is seriously may life ha ha.

Plot: Before I start, please know, I turn a blind eye to plot holes if the anime was enjoyable, and HELL YES this anime was enjoyable. It definitely kept my heart racing, despite how I didn't like Kaneki that much in the beginning. The whole idea drove me crazy, and if I watched this before sleeping, it's psychological aspects would keep me up at night. Here's the thing, if your going to watch this for action your in for a real treat, but if you take some time to think and dig a little deeper and think about the psychological aspect of it, this gem will just begin to shine brighter. It's not too hard though, I feel the psychological part is pretty obvious. I actually don't think there were too many plot holes. I mean, I don't even dislike plot holes as long most of them are answered, but I do just LOVE it when people complain that the first episode of a mystery anime has plot holes, its mystery, they will probably be answered. Anyways the plot, the idea, I love it. I love Tokyo Ghoul so much.

I can also applaud this anime for some really intense rape faces like the one below:

Thanks Shuu Tsukiyama...

Overall: Damn it, if your one of the poor souls who hasn't watched this, sit your ass down and just binge on some of the awesomeness your life is missing. This is a 9/10 or a 10/10. I'm not good at making decisions...

Side note: Uhhh, if you hadn't noticed this anime is not really recommended for children, nor is this blog...
